Counsel for capital campaign to build a visitors center, new entrances and new gardens, and to enhance and expand programming.
Brooklyn Tech High School Foundation
Advisement to ongoing major donor program to secure new funds for program and capital needs of the largest of New York City's three top competitive high schools. In 2006, Brooklyn Tech completed a five year, $10 million campaign, for which we developed the campaign plan and served as counsel.
CLINIC (Catholic Legal Immigration Network)
Assessment of progress in fundraising in several donor sectors since completion of a development strategy and plan in 2003. Recommend development strategy adjustments and implementation advisement.
Communities for Learning: Leading Lasting Change
Development of a plan for contributed and earned revenue for the education change organization that developed and provides training in the ARCS Framework for Sustainable School Improvement.
Consumer and Merchants Awareness Foundation
Plan for determining fundraising and corporate sponsorship potential for new, web-based personal and family financial management program site, which includes the Pay Yourself First system.
Figure Skating in Harlem
Scenario planning and research on fundraising potential for proposed expansion of program and facilities. FSH provides girls with vital educational and skating opportunities that build self-confidence, promote physical well being and support academic achievement.
Feasibility study and campaign counsel services. The Fortune Society's mission is to support successful re-entry from prison and promote alternatives to incarceration, thus strengthening the fabric of communities.
Make the Road New York
Planning study for a capital campaign to build an environmentally certified facility in Bushwick, Brooklyn. Make the Road New York promotes economic justice, equity and opportunity for all New Yorkers through community organizing, policy advocacy, leadership development, education, legal and support services.
Manhattan Class Company
Planning study for a capital campaign to support a new theater facility on West 53rd Street in Manhattan, featuring two stages. MCC produces three full-scale mainstage productions a year and operates the Playwrights' Coalition for emerging writers and the MCC Theater Youth Company, a free after-school program.
Manhattan Country School
Study of options for the future of the school and planning and facilitating a board retreat. MCS is a co-educational, independent elementary school based upon principles of social justice and progressive education. It is a leader in multicultural education and its sliding scale tuition system is a national model.
Metropolitan New York Library Council
A multifaceted assignment that includes foundation grants, corporate sponsorships, a new individual membership program, and board development. METRO, with 270 institutional members representing 1,200 libraries, promotes and facilitates utilization of existing library resources and develops additional library services in the New York metropolitan area.
Partnership for Palliative Care
Preparation and implementation of a six-year, $45 million campaign to provide support for the work of the leading practitioners and researchers in the field and for development of an ongoing public awareness campaign. Palliative care employs a multi-disciplinary approach to ensure the relief of pain and other symptoms and to support the best quality of life for patients with serious or chronic illness.
Pro Bono Partnership
Capital campaign feasibility study for the organization that provides corporate counsel and law firm attorney pro bono services to hundreds of nonprofits in Westchester and Putnam counties in New York and throughout much of Connecticut and New Jersey. This is the fourth project Washburn Carmichael has undertaken for the Partnership since 2001.
After several years providing full-service fundraising and foundation support, Washburn Carmichael continues in an advisory role. We focus on major donor prospects, Board development, annual fundraising goal setting and calendar, and government support.
Business plan for cutting-edge music organization moving into a permanent home - a large, custom-renovated theater in Brooklyn, a short walk from BAM and many performing arts groups and venues. This is the most recent of several Roulette consulting assignments.
Science Friday Initiative
Comprehensive communications, development, and board enhancement plan for the nonprofit partner of the Science Friday radio program that airs weekly on National Public Radio stations.
Trevor Day School
Feasibility study and campaign counsel. Washburn Carmichael evaluated Trevor's potential to raise funds towards the construction of a new facility and renovation of their West Side campus and is now providing guidance on campaign implementation. The Trevor Day School is a coed private school that promotes active, experiential learning through its K-12 curriculum.
